Sculptra Q & A

What is Sculptra Aesthetic?

Sculptra Aesthetic is unlike other fillers in that it’s not a gel. It is made of particles called polylactic acid (PLLA) suspended in water. When injected, it adds volume to your skin to fill in lines or hollow areas.

With time, it stimulates the production and regeneration of your own natural collagen. Results from Sculptra are gradual and natural looking.

What areas can be treated with Sculptra?

Wrinkles and other areas on your face that can be treated with Sculptra include:

  • Nasolabial folds
  • Smile lines
  • Chin wrinkles
  • Marionette lines
  • Cheeks that have lost volume

Sculptra is not used to enhance your lips or treat the undereye area. Sculptra can also be used to improve the appearance of certain parts of your body that include the:

  • Thighs to smooth out cellulite dimples
  • Area above the knee to lift sagging skin
  • Buttocks to provide a liquid buttlift
  • Arms to reduce the appearance of crepey skin
  • Décolleté, to improve texture and reduce lines and wrinkles

Sculptra is versatile in its ability to replace lost volume and stimulate collagen production in many areas of the body.

How long do the results of Sculptra last?

You enjoy more youthful and healthier-looking skin in areas treated with Sculptra for as long as two years. At 25 months after treatment, research shows patients are still happy with their results.

Who is a good candidate for Sculptra?

Men and women older than 30 who have lost significant volume in their faces or have notable lines and facial creases can benefit from Sculptra Aesthetic. Sculptra has a very low risk of producing side effects.

Do I need to schedule downtime following Sculptra treatments?

You don’t need to schedule formal downtime following Sculptra injections. You can return to your daily activities, but you may have some swelling or bruising in treated areas – but this lasts just a few days.

You should massage the area right after treatment for a better distribution of the PLLA particles and improved collagen stimulation.
